Should You Put Your CV Online?

It can be very handy to place your CV on your own website and then refer potential employers and agencies to this. However, you need to be careful about who might see this. If you are currently working then there is a danger that your employer might see your CV. It all depends on how you have advertised your details.
If you are giving your CV URL out on a business card this should be safe, but be wary of going to lengths to make sure everyone can find this.
A safer bet is often to get your CV uploaded onto a job board such as planet recruit. These CVs are then made available to the agencies that are registered with them. Employers are also allowed to access these and again this can be a risk. However, most will give you an option about whether employers can access these. There is normally an option to get employers to request the CV from you. This lets you check that it isn’t your current employer.
However, currently there are far more agencies that use these services than employers so there is rarely a problem. However, mishaps have happened, so it is best to be cautious.
